New York’s favorite Christmas tradition is back— fir sure!

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting will be open to the public again Wednesday after the beloved holiday event was scrapped due to COVID-19 last year.

The star of the Big Apple’s 89th annual tree lighting is a 79-foot tall, 85-year-old Norway Spruce, which was donated by a family from Elkton, Maryland.

To kickoff to the yuletide season, the tree will be illuminated with 50,000 lights and topped with a dazzling 900-pound star made with 3 million Swarovski crystals.

When and where is the 2021 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting?

The festivities run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday outside 30 Rockefeller Plaza, between West 49th and 50th streets and Fifth and Sixth avenues in Midtown.

The towering tree will also be lit up daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, according to the Rockefeller tree lighting website

. On Christmas day, it will glow for 24 hours straight.

Who’s performing at the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting?

Musical acts include country crooner Carrie Underwood, singer-songwriter Norah Jones and rocker Rob Thomas. There will also be performances from the cast of Broadway’s “Come From Away,” Brad Paisley, Harry Connick Jr., Alessia Cara, Pentatonix and The Radio City Rockettes.

“Today” show anchors Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin will host the event.

What streets will be closed for the tree lighting?

Pedestrian space will be temporarily expanded on the streets around Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall for the holiday fun, according to city officials.

During the month of December, the closed streets include areas on 49th and 50th streets between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue. On Wednesday, the zone will be also be expanded north and south to 48th and 52nd streets.

It’s best for viewers to take public transportation, including the B/D/F/M trains, the 1 and 6 trains and the N/Q/R trains, according to city officials.

Are there any mask or vaccination requirements?

Since the event is outside, there are no COVID-19 vaccination requirements but attendees must mask-up, according to Rockefellercenter.com.

When will the tree lighting air on TV?

The ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC at 8 p.m. during the station’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” live special. It can also be streamed on Sling TV or Fubo TV.
