Zendaya looks out of this world in W Magazine spread

Zendaya transported us to another planet in a series of stunning new photos for W Magazine.

Directed by “Dune” filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, the spread is part of the magazine’s director’s issue and was inspired by the futuristic landscape of the movie.

The actress, 25, who stars in the epic sci-fi film alongside Timothée Chalamet, poses in a series of sleek designer pieces in the photos shot by Jack Davison, including the magazine’s cover.

Wearing a black Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress with a glittering gold circular headpiece and matching arm hoops, the “Euphoria” star is a sparkling sun goddess floating amongst puffy clouds in the striking cover shot.

Villeneuve said he took inspiration from David Bowie’s “The Man Who Fell to Earth” as he directed the photoshoot in Malibu, imagining “a vulnerable creature landing on our planet, wanting to learn about humanity, and witnessing the morally decrepit state of the world and our politics.”

One of the standouts from the session includes “The Greatest Showman” star posing in a sheer white Maximilian gown with her arms outstretched, standing on a beam inside a piece of swirling gold metal.

In another snap, Zendaya wears a fringed Courrèges halter top from the designer’s spring 2022 collection.

With her eyes closed and arms blurred in motion, Zendaya appears in a dreamy, dancing trance.

The star said “Dune” was “so much more than just a book to a lot of people; it’s a whole world that they’ve been able to escape to for years.”

Nominated for a whopping 10 Oscars this year, including Best Picture, “Dune” is set on a stark planet called Arrakis where the Fremen, including Zendaya’s character, Chani Kynes, are fighting for survival.

“People will believe in Arrakis if they believe in Zendaya,” Villeneuve said. “And Zendaya killed it.”

The former Disney Channel actress continued to “kill it” as she sparkled in a silver chainmail-style Burberry top and leggings from the spring/summer 2022 runway, snapped in mid-dance.

The Canadian filmmaker admitted that while his subject “has shot maybe 10,000 covers,” magazine work was a brand-new experience for him.

“I’m approaching this with a lot of humility,” he said. “My expectation about it is just to have, frankly, creative fun.”

While the “Spider-Man” actress said it was intimidating to step into a role that already had such a strong science fiction fanbase, she also shared a surprising fear she experienced while auditioning for the movie.

“I had just gotten my wisdom teeth taken out,” she said. “My biggest fear was that my mouth would be vile, and then I would have to do a scene with Timothée where we have to be really close, and he would smell my possible dry socket breath.”

Clearly, her breath didn’t impact the audition, and we’ll see more of Zendaya when a “Dune” sequel hits screens in October 2023.
