Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Thursday that a short social distance of 3 feet is required when children go to school.
Fauci said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention weighs “very carefully” whether the new requirement – less than the standard 6 feet – can be implemented in schools.
“I think there will be a possibility,” the country’s top infectious disease specialist NBC News said on the “Today” show.
“There was a good study in the state of Massachusetts in which children who wore masks looked 3 feet vs. 6 feet. And they didn’t really find any difference.
“So the CDC is analyzing that data very carefully right now. They can change very well. I do not want to go further than them. But they are at the very top of it and are looking at that data. So they will rethink about that distance. “
On Wednesday, CDC director Rochelle Wallensky told lawmakers that the agency was considering amending the Social Distinction Guidelines in a bid to reopen schools.

“As soon as our guidance came out, it became very clear that 6 feet is one of the things that kept schools closed and in this context science develops,” Valensky told the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee to inspect and investigate Told on
Asked whether social difference change “could have a broader impact,” Fauci replied, “it could.”
