A Duke professor says he felt “outlined” by ESPN college basketball analyst and radio host Dan Dakich, because he used the word “bitch” and referred to a “sexual” reference in a Twitter argument that has since been a network. Is implicated in the investigation of.
Last month, Duke followed fellow Nathan Kalman-Lamb to Dakich and other members of the media said men’s basketball freshman Jalan Johnson dropped out of the team with six matches to go out of the season.
Dakich responded and found himself in a debate with Kalman-Lamb and assistant professor Johanna Melis about the compensation of college athletes.
When Dakich, a former Indiana basketball player and coach, attempted to discredit the professors, former Division I swimmer Mellis challenged him to race in the pool.
The postman later used the word “bitch” to refer to Melis and tweeted that he would have to divorce his wife before accepting her challenge.

“Through the use of the B-word and the way he sensualized my explicit reference to running in the pool, he debated and violated my identity on the public airwaves for all” Melis told USA Today.
In her WFNI The Fan radio show, 58-year-old Dakich said, “I just called bitch because this is what people do. This is what everyone does, everybody just stings. But it’s clearly sexist Because I said that bitch and a woman were in conversation.
“And then she said she wanted to go to the pool. If you put it in a pool, it’s a public place and then I’m about to get divorced, and then it’s just a problem. “
ESPN said it was watching the incident last week.
Dakich’s Twitter account was not active until Monday.
Dakich has also been in hot water before. In 2019 he was suspended by his radio station for five days for failing to “follow the principles of journalism”.
He was investigated in March after firing a high school basketball coach and a rant about calling a player a “mythhead”, although it was unclear if he faced punishment.
