Elgato’s new light strip can make your setup even colder

Known for its gaming and manufacturer-centric streaming technology, the company owned by Corsair is expanding into Elgato Smart Lighting. Introduced it Light bar, A thin strip packed with 108 dimable LEDs that can be viscous adhesive, folded, and trimmed to fit. These can be controlled over Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz only) via MacOS, Windows 10, iOS, or Android, or Elgato’s Stream Deck hardware-free app, which will obviously offer deeper integration. Elgato is charging for two meters (about 79 inches) of illumination, including a controller light plug and a power adapter.

The stream deck is not included for the record.

These are similar in execution to most of Philips Hue’s most connected light strips, with the irony through plug-ins that it has tight stream deck integration. Not to be confused with the capabilities of something like the Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Strip that can sync the light on your screen (only after purchasing some pricey extra hardware), Elgato’s more affordable solution just looks.

If you are a streamer that appears on the camera, Elgato says that the LEDs within the light strip are flicker free. It says that some other options appear fine to the naked eye, but can create a flickering effect when you’re on-camera. In terms of other specs, these are RGBWW LEDs that provide both cool and warm white support, in addition to millions of colors. These have a maximum output of 2,000-lumens.
