Russian intelligence trying to weaken Pfizer COVID vaccine

A report on Sunday stated that Russian intelligence agencies were sharing inaccurate and misleading information to reduce trust in Pfizer and other drugmakers from the COVID-19 vaccine.

Four online publications about vaccines that disintegrate have been linked to Russian intelligence services, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The report, which cites an anonymous US official with the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, said the sites do not have a large audience, but their false statements could be picked up by other international media outlets.

The newspaper reported that sites identified as New Eastern Outlook, Oriental Review, News Front and Rebel Inside emphasized the risk of side effects vaccines, questioned their efficacy, and claimed that Pfizer The process was approved to approve the K vaccine.

“We can say that these outlets are directly connected to the Russian intelligence services,” said a Global Engagement Center official. “They are all foreign-owned, located outside the United States. They vary greatly in their reach, their accents, their audiences, but they are all part of the Russian propaganda and disintegration ecosystem.”

The newspaper reported that in addition to the campaign to reduce Western vaccines, Russia’s state media and government Twitter accounts have raised concerns about the cost and safety of the Pfizer vaccine.

Experts said the effort could be an attempt to boost sales of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine.

A Kremlin spokesman denied the allegations.

“This is nonsense. Russian special services have nothing to do with any criticism against vaccines,” Dmitry Peskov told the Journal.

“If we treat every negative publication against Sputnik v Vaccine as a result of American Special Services efforts, we will go crazy because we see it every day, every hour, and in every Anglo-Saxon media.”
