Man injured after explosion in NYC restaurant’s outdoor dining setup

A nuisance guard smashed the plexiglass window of an outdoor dining setup in Midtown on Saturday, causing a customer to suffer cuts to his face, according to police and witnesses.

The customer, a 48-year-old man, was dining at Dalton’s Bar & Grill on Ninth Avenue near West 43rd Street, when a group of protesters began banging on the windows of the outdoor setup as they passed around 5 p.m. , The police said.

“There was nothing peaceful about the protest. It looked like Black Lives Matter, ”an employee told The Post.

“I was more annoyed than doing anything because they were harassing all of our customers.”

One of the protesters swung plastic at the window with an unknown object, shattering plastic and injuring the diner, according to police.

“I saw a man screaming and beating on the glass,” said the employee, who is 29 years old and asked not to be named. “It happened so fast,” he told the Post.

NYPD Tweeted A photo of the customer shows a cut on his face, and he said that he refused to seek medical attention at the scene.

The employee said the violent protesters prevented the crowd from demonstrating again.

The attack left a large hole in the window, which had so far been covered with plastic wrap by Dalton’s staff. The cost of the damage was unknown.

No arrests have been made. Police is investigating the incident.
