Miguel Andujar was already fighting a battle this spring in an attempt to find his role on the Yankee roster.
Now he has an injury to join that challenge.
Andujar is dealing with right arm and wrist soreness, manager Aaron Boone said Sunday morning, and hopes to see a hand specialist on Monday to get a diagnosis. The third baseman / outfielder has not played since Wednesday, with the Yankees holding him back due to agony.
“We probably know more about it [Monday] Or Tuesday, “Boo said to Tampa.
Andujar experienced agony for the first time during his swing on the swing in the Dominican Winter League. It has since “calmed down,” Boone said, before allowing it to pop in six games this spring before it pops up again.
“He was clearly playing and was fine and then he paid attention to that in the last game,” Boone said. “It just got a little bit more painful, so we’ve been treating it here for the last several days.”
Andujar played his first game on the left field in the spring on Wednesday, while he had only one ball to go 0-for-3 at the plate. In six Grape League games, Andujar is batting 2-for-15.

The 26-year-old was runner-up AN Rookie of the Year in 2001, derailed with season-ending shoulder surgery to fix a torn labrum before 2019. In his absence, Gio Urshella came alive and became the Yankees’ Rose third baseman, limiting Andusar to just 21 games last season.
