Mike Young of Virginia Tech takes random shots at Jehovah’s Witnesses

Virginia Tech men’s basketball coach Mike Young apologized for comments made about Jehovah’s Witnesses during their NCAA Tournament press conference on Tuesday.

Young, who is in his second season as head coach of the Hawkeyes, attempted to say that he was taking his matchup seriously with the Florida Gators but ended Crass’s remarks.

“Earlier on the NCAA tournament conference call today, I tried to show my respect for our upcoming rival, University of Florida. Regrettably, I did not express that sentiment appropriately, ”Young said. “I apologize for my insensitive remarks and sincerely apologize to anyone who has offended.”

Young was named ACC Coach of the Year for a 15–6 total and getting Virginia Tech back in the tournament.

The Hokies are the No. 10 seed in the South Region and play the Gators on Friday afternoon.
