The International Federation of the Red Cross said on Wednesday that KULALA, Malaysia – Coronavirus cases are confirming more than 5.9 million new infections in Asia and the Pacific over the past two weeks.
It warned that the increase was pushing hospitals and health systems to the brink of collapse.
Seven out of 10 countries globally are doubling their transition numbers fastest in Asia and the Pacific. The Red Cross said in a statement that it took Laos just 12 days to double its cases and the number of confirmed infections in India doubled within two months.
It stated that Oxford University’s data in our world reported more than 5.9 million new COVID-19 infections in Asia and the Pacific over the course of two weeks. Most of the region’s official figures are widely considered.

“COVID-19 is spreading across Asia, overshadowing hospitals and health services. Alexander Matheau, director of the Red Cross Asia Pacific, said that more people have been diagnosed with the disease in Asia in the last two weeks than in Asia, Europe and Africa.
“Right now, we need global solidarity for regional support with more medical devices, support for prevention and immediate access to vaccines,” he said.
Vaccination operations are underway in the region, with the Red Cross stating that they are hampered by scarcity, hesitation and the expensive logistics of arriving in many areas throughout the region.
“To bring this epidemic under control, we need more global cooperation to get life resources, medical equipment, vaccines and money where people at risk are most likely to help. We are safe only when everyone is safe.
