Saint Peter's knocks off Purdue to reach Elite 8

PHILADELPHIA — It sounded like Jersey City in the City of Brotherly Love.

Cinderella darling Saint Peter’s wrote another chapter in this hard-to-believe tale. Friday night at jammed Wells Fargo Center, it closed like a seasoned title contender, not a No. 15 seed with no business being in this position.

The Peacocks stunned No. 3 Purdue, 67-64, becoming the lowest seed in NCAA Tournament history to reach the Elite Eight after finishing on a 15-8 run. When Jaden Ivey’s 3-pointer was off the mark at the horn, coach Shaheen Holloway lifted both arms in the air and the entire team sprinted over to press row to salute their fans.
