The Nets lost to Miami Durant on Sunday in Miami. They then lost a heartbreaker.
The Nets gained a seven-point lead in the minutes of the game, and a Bam Adebayo pull-up shot took the lead and bounced around. It was a 109–107 loss to AmericanAviers Arena in one day and they would lose in a day. For some time.
Landry Schmatt had a season high-point 30 points for 30 seasons (38–19) and Kairi Irving added 20, losing to Durant after just four minutes due to a left leg injury.
After Jimmy Butler – who sat out the game – had called his Heat team soft, Miami proved a bit difficult on this day. The Nets had seven minutes left, leading 99–92 based on Adebayo’s game-winning shot, but surrendered with a 17–8 run.
The Heat Big Man worked on Jeff Greene and made a change at the buzzer. The Nets gave the final eight points in the final 3 the minute.
After a series of slow starts, this time it was a late running game that cost them.

Coach Steve Nash had already admitted, “No, we certainly haven’t started well after the All-Star break, minus one or two games.” When we are not in some stars or the usual suspect lineup, we definitely get our feet of gas. I think it is important for us to take a challenge here to get the inspiration of a good start.
“We are below the age of 12 or 15, but can we start the game with a crisp, fast, clean mindset to start? The ball is not always going to the basket, you will not always play well, but you can have the right mindset. So I think it’s a challenge for us [against Miami]”
The Nets had a terrible start, but it was not the scoreline but the injury list.
Durant came out aggressively and scored eight straight points, but left the game with 7:57 left with a thigh to the left leg after being fouled by Trevor Ariza.
A few moments later the Nets trailed 14–8 to the Nets 14–8, and after a few squatting turns against Miami’s confusing zone, the Eights trailed 42–35 without points.
It was 44-37 with 7:15 left in the free throw by Dwayne Dedmon. But that is when the Nets responded with a 10–2 run, Shemut edging one in front on a 3-pointer.
The rest of the competition was a lead case.
A 6-foot change from Bruce Brown gave the Nets 90-89 with 8:48 left. Another 10–2 run, this time by Miami, put Brooklyn in a seven-point hole on the reverse driving by Goran Dragic.
Nets and Shemut again responded. Trailing 99–92 with 6:50 to play, Brooklyn edged out by 13 unanswered points. The Nets held Miami undefeated for three minutes, with 0-for-3 with a pair of turnovers.
Back-to-back corner 3s by Shamet put them ahead by four and sent Miami to a timeout. A Harris drive made it 105–99 with 4:04 to play, but could not hold onto the Nets.
The Nets pulled Miami to a 10-2 run, with a drag transition dropping it to 107-all. Adebayo then won it.
