Tinder will soon gift you a Lyft ride for your date

Tinder is partnering with Lyft to provide efficiencies To gift dates without leaving the Tinder app. This is a small feature if you already have the Lyft app download, but like adding video chat to the app, this is one less reason to focus on your match and on any other app.

There is no confirmed release date for the Lyft integration, as it is “slated to go out in the coming months” and Tinder does not yet have a view of how it will work in the app. Tinder says that Lyft’s common safety features such as sharing space with family and friends will be available from the Lyft app for gift rides.

Adding a Lyft ride can be convenient, but there are some possible scenarios to be concerned about. It is not clear at what point you can order the ride, or whether both you and the person matching you will have to agree. If you call a ride and they don’t really want it then it will be annoying (not to mention the slightest bit of uncertainty) for both Tinder and the person matching up with the Lyft driver.

When asked about those potentially strange scenarios, Tinder declined to provide details, saying more information would be available in the coming months. Until then, a zoom date or Tinder’s built-in trivia feature may be the way to go.
