Warriors’ Stephen Curry approves of potential game-in-game vs. LeBron James, Lakers

If the NBA runs through Saturday through the completion of May 16 of the regular season, the league will get another postson matchup between LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

Curry was asked on Saturday after the Warriors moved the Thunder whether they felt the league would enjoy such a performance between the seventh-seeded Lakers (37-30) and the eighth-seeded Warriors (35-33). He did not feel the need to respond verbally; Instead, he gave his answer, nodding for effect.

We will take it as “yes”.

On May 18 or May 19, the teams will meet in a one-game performance. The winner will be seeded seventh in the main Western Conference playoffs. The loser would be the winner of the conference’s eighth and final playoff berth, 9–10 games. The Grizzlies vs. Spurs have an estimated 9–10 matchup entering Sunday’s games.

But there is still a long way to go before the LA-Golden State 7-8 game becomes official.

The Warriors are just half a game ahead of the Grizzlies (34–33) for the eighth, and will host them in the teams’ regular-season finale on May 16. The good news for Golden State is that all of its remaining games – vs., Jazz, Sun, Pelicans and Grizzlies – are at home.

The Lakers have a three-game cushion above the Grizzlies and are just 1 1/2 games behind the sixth-ranked Trail Blazers, but are again wavering at the finish line with James out of the lineup. He has missed LA’s last three matches after returning from an ankle sprain on April 30 and playing two games. The Lakers will play the Suns on Sunday, followed by the Knicks, Rockets, Pacers and Pelicans. They are scheduled to make a back-to-back finish in Indiana and New Orleans on May 15–16.
