Robert Whitaker overwhelmed Calvin Gastelum in every aspect, forcing a unanimous decision in their UFC Middleweight main event Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Whittaker won Gastelum 50–45 in all cards in the first round en route.
Whitaker (23-5) recorded more than double Gastelum (17-7) in total strikes, four takedowns of the American and dominating the fight, over four minutes for Gastelum in just 26 seconds.
Whitaker has a rematch set with middleweight champion Israel Adanya, who defeated Whittaker with a second-round TKO at UFC 243 in October 2019.
“I think we should talk, friend,” Whittaker said later. “I think it’s about time we crossed the path once again. I think I have some tricks she hasn’t seen yet.”
Earlier, Andrei Arlovski won unanimously in a heavy-weight bout over Chase Sherman. It was a tight match but Arlovski won 29–28 in all cards.
42-year-old Arlovski made his UFC debut in 2000 and finished third in appearances (35).
Jacob Malkown recorded a unanimous decision over Abdul Razak Alhassan in his middleweight contest. Malkun took all three cards 30–27.
Tracy Cortez defeated Justin Kish in a split decision in their women’s flyout bout. Cortez took two cards 29–28 and 30–27 while Kish took one card 29–28.
Luis Pena also made a split decision over Alexander Munoz in his light bout. Pena was the winner 29–28 in two cards but dropped one card from the same score.
