Elizabeth Lyn Vargas’ ex-boyfriend was arrested Tuesday for allegedly barricading himself inside her Newport Beach, Calif., home following an argument, according to multiple reports.
The “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum, 46, called Newport Beach police and claimed an unnamed ex was trying to extort her, TMZ reported.
When officers arrived at her oceanside house at 5:45 p.m. local time, the man was allegedly holed up inside and would not leave, according to CBS local news.
Several images from the incident obtained by TMZ revealed there was a large police presence at the property for about two hours, including SWAT team members with semi-automatic rifles and armored vehicles.
It is unclear if Vargas’ ex was armed, but law enforcement sources told TMZ the former reality star was not held hostage.
CBS reported that the suspect was eventually taken into custody at 7:40 p.m. local time.
According to the local news outlet, Vargas left prior to the standoff and was unhurt. She appeared in TMZ’s photos dressed in a white robe and speaking to cops.
Vargas has yet to speak out on the incident on social media. Her rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
A spokesperson for the Newport Beach police could not immediately be reached.
Vargas had a short run on “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” appearing on the hit Bravo series for Season 15. She was not asked back alongside Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke.
“COVID 2020 was a very unfortunate and tough year for all of us during filming but we made it happen and I’m very proud of what we accomplished as a team,” Vargas wrote on Instagram at the time of her exit back in June.
“Despite filming during COVID and not really getting to know all the ladies fully, this past year has been the most extraordinary, amazing and beautiful experience of my life. I am so proud of the work we have done and the friendships we were able to build.”
