Kim Kardashian left Kanye West to make herself ‘happy’

Kim Kardashian is unapologetic in putting her own happiness first amid her divorce from Kanye West.

“For so long, I did what made other people happy,” Kardashian, 41, told Vogue for her March 2022 cover story. “And I think in the last two years I decided I’m going to make myself happy. And that feels really good.”

She continued, “Even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy. I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s OK to choose you.”

The Skims founder explained that she wants to focus on her own needs now that she’s in her 40s, saying she’s “Team Me.”

“I’m going to eat well. I’m going to work out. I’m going to have more fun, spend more time with my kids and the people who make me happy,” she told the magazine. “I’m going to put my phone down. Unfollow if I don’t want to see something on Instagram.”

Kardashian added that she has turned to her younger sister Khloé Kardashian for advice on how to block out the haters.

“Khloé came up with the best phrase for that yesterday. She said, ‘Post and ghost,’” Kim said.

In addition to turning to her family members, the KKW Beauty boss explained that she relies on her close friends to help her when times get tough. She has two main group chats: the “lifers,” which includes friends she’s known since preschool, and her “bat chat,” which is made up of pals she’s made as she’s grown up.

Kim filed for divorce from the “Off the Grid” rapper, 44, in February 2021 after seven years of marriage and four children: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.

Since their split, West has gone on several tirades about Kim and accused her of keeping him from their kids.

Kim was compelled to come out with a statement last Friday, accusing her estranged husband of being obsessed with attacking her amid their divorce.

West subsequently deleted all content featuring Kim and their kids from his Instagram feed.

Nevertheless, the reality star hopes to develop a mature co-parenting relationship, explaining to Vogue, “You could be so hurt or angry at your ex, but I think in front of the kids, it always has to be ‘Your dad’s the best.’ Make sure you are your co-parent’s biggest cheerleader, no matter what you’re personally going through.”

Kim moved on from West with “Saturday Night Live” comedian Pete Davidson last fall, while the Grammy winner has been dating “Uncut Gems” star Julia Fox since New Year’s.
