Fire in Michigan empties thousands of acres of land

Thousands of acres in Northeast Michigan have been burned by fire after the US Forest Service failed an effort to burn them on Friday.

Nearly 100 people have been forced to flee their homes in Iosco County, near the Huron-Manistee National Forest, while nearly 6,000 acres of land have been burned. According to reports.

“We are working really hard to catch it and suppress it,” said Joshua Weill, the forest’s public affairs officer.

Firefighters and several public safety agencies are battling the explosion with the aid of aircraft, including tankers with flames.

“Anyone in the area is asked to take precautions and avoid the affected areas,” a Michigan State Police statement said.

A shelter has been established for residents forced to leave their homes. No injuries or structural damage have been reported.
