A Virginia sheriff’s deputy shot and injured an unarmed black man for a gun after he severely injured his cell phone, a recently released body cam video shows.

At the time of Wednesday morning’s shooting, Isaiah Brown, 32, was speaking to a 911 dispatcher near his home in Spotselia County to report a domestic dispute with his brother, According to the recently released 911 audio.

Brown can be heard telling the dispatcher that he plans to kill his brother. Moments later, the deputy saw Brown.

Earlier in the evening, the same deputy gave Brown a ride home after his car broke down.

When the deputy confronted Brown for the second time, he ordered Brown to “show me his hands” and “drop the gun” before firing several shots, according to the audio.

Activists gathered outside the office to protest the shooting on Friday after law enforcement officials announced an investigation into the incident.
