Doctor Strange 2 Image Offers Look At Xochitl Gomez As America Chavez

A new image from the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness provides a glimpse of the MCU’s newest hero, America Chavez.

The latest issue of Total Film features an interview with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Doctor Strange himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, alongside the new image from Multiverse of Madness. The image shows Cumberbatch as Strange, standing beside Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez in what appears to be Kamar-Taj from the first Doctor Strange film. Check out the image of the two heroes below.

The sequel’s first two trailers have already given fans their first look at Xochitl Gomez as the dimension-hopping hero, America, and this new image shows her looking unsettled as she gets to work with the Master of the Mystic Arts.

America Chavez was created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta, debuting in Marvel comics in 2011. As well as being superhumanly strong, she has the power to open portals through the multiverse, which is sure to come in handy as Doctor Strange confronts threats across realities in the new film.

“It’s going to be a completely mind-bending, thrilling ride. It really is,” Cumberbatch told Total Film of the sequel. “The title speaks for the experience of watching it, I believe, and certainly of making it. There was a lot of madness, a lot of multiverse, and a lot of Doctor Strange.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to pick up where the similarly multiverse-spanning Spider-Man: No Way Home left off. With Patrick Stewart’s Professor X expected to be just one of many characters from alternate universes to appear in the film, America Chavez could have a vital role to play.

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the upcoming movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Reporter Door’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
