Saints trading in the top 10

The New Orleans Saints are attempting to move into the top 10 of Thursday’s 2021 NFL Draft, but not necessarily, according to multiple reports, required one quarter to replace retired legend Drew Breeze.

The Saints, who currently own the number 28 in the first round, “are actually their sightseers elsewhere” ESPN.com reported.

New Orleans coach Sean Peyton identified the cornerback last week as his team “must know between now and the start of the season.” The top corners on the board – Alabama’s Patrick Sartain II and South Carolina’s Jesse Horn – are to be selected in that category, with Northwestern’s Greg Newsome and Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley also being potential first-round selections.

Patton indicated last week that quarterbacks are not a priority under contract with Tysam Hill and Jemis Winston.

GM Mickey Loomis said Wednesday that the one thing that I think we have done in the past is what we love and we have often taken steps to get that player or players. “So if this is the definition of aggressive, then I like it.”

The Saints parted with former veteran Conback Janoris Jenkins after the 2020 season; He signed with the Titans as a free agent.
