Halsey left the 2022 Grammy Awards early after attending just days following surgery for endometriosis.
“Not feeling super well so I left early,” the singer wrote on their Instagram Story on Sunday night.
The “Without Me” singer, who uses the pronouns she/they, explained that she managed to stay to watch one of her favorite bands perform but that she then needed fuel and rest.
“Had to see BTS tho,” they said “Going to get pasta and sleep. Thanks for everything luv u all.”
They attended the Las Vegas event looking chic in a strapless burgundy-and-black Pressiat gown. She also rocked a red lip that matched her fierce red tresses peaking out of her statement hat.
On Saturday, Halsey revealed that she still planned to attend this year’s Grammys despite having had surgery three days ago.
“The last time I attended the Grammys was 2017 and it was 3 days after I had my first Endometriosis surgery. I walked the carpet with my stitches still in,” Halsey shared on Instagram Saturday.
“As luck would have it, I’m attending tomorrow for the first time in years and I had surgery again (you guessed it) 3 days ago.”
They added, “Only posting this to say, if you see me be gentle lol I’m fragile. Fragile but excited.”
Halsey, 27, has been open about her struggle with endometriosis— an often painful condition in which tissues that normally line the inside of a uterus instead grow outside of it and can sometimes cause fertility challenges.
She has undergone several procedures to help and even proudly flaunted her scars to empower others who have gone through the same struggles.
They opened up about her condition in 2018, saying on an episode of “The Doctors” that they were getting “aggressive” in treating her endometriosis and family planning.
“I’m 23 years old and I’m going to freeze my eggs,” Halsey explained. “And when I tell people that, they’re like, ‘You’re 23, why do you need to do that? Why do you need to freeze your eggs?’ Doing an ovarian reserve is important to me because I’m fortunate enough to have that as an option, but I need to be aggressive about protecting my fertility, about protecting myself.”
Halsey gave birth and welcomed her first child with boyfriend Alev Aydin in July 2021.
