In the words of Ron Burgundy … the boy … who moved quickly.

James Dolan on Wednesday removed his cashews and, surprisingly, Rangers GM Jeff Gorton and team president John Davidson, just after the entire Tom Wilson saga took place less than 48 hours before. It’s safe to say that we have a jam-packed new episode of the “Up in the Blue Seats” podcast with Ron Duguay, Mollie Walker, Larry Brooks and former Rangers enforcer Nick Fotiou.

With Ron and Mollie in the Blue Seats Podcast:

  • Gorton / Davidson FIR: How did all this happen? Was this the right decision? Will Chris Mercury be a permanent fixture at GM?
  • Tom Wilson’s statement: Mark Messier made some remarks on Rangers requiring players to win battles on the streets or on the street. Can Messier become the next Rangers head coach or team president?

Larry Brooks Interview:
NY Post Rangers beat writer

  • front office: Dolan wanted to move the process forward. Was not satisfied with where the team was. They have similar players and need more toughness. They are also one dimensional.
  • Wilson: The Rangers did what they needed to do, but it was not a true line like in Ole’s day. There is a need to discuss complementary discipline.

Nick Fotiu Interview:
Former Rangers Center (1976–1985)

  • Ranger Results: They should be proud, but they do not have people who know how to fight. “I would have jumped on the boards at Wilson.”
  • Tourism: Tough players are needed in today’s game. He should have developed difficult players. K’Andre Miller would have to be more physical.
