McDonald’s redesigned coffee cups to promote COVID-19 vaccines

McDonald’s announced on Tuesday that it is partnering with the White House to promote COVID-19 vaccines on the fast-food chain’s redesigned coffee cups.

The promotion will begin in July and American customers will see new McCafe cups and delivery seal stickers, a facility created by the Department of Health and Human Services, “We can do it

The cups will also direct customers to TK.GO, which helps people find nearby appointments and provides vaccine safety information.

Demand for life-saving shots has started in many parts of the country as a public-private partnership. According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 152 million people or about 50 percent of people in the US have received at least one shot of the vaccine. But experts say that enough people are unlikely to be vaccinated to gain herd immunity in this country, at which point the virus will be unable to spread to the community.

The company also said that its electronic billboard in Times Square would display vaccine information starting in mid-May.

McDonald’s global vice president and McDonald’s US vice president for public relations said in a statement, “McDonald’s we are excited to be part of our service to people, providing them with simple information that can help keep them safe is.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Javier Becerra said the promotion would help the federal government meet people where they are, giving them “reliable information about the vaccine when they grab a cup of coffee or order a meal.”
