Angels vs. Athletics prediction: Take the Over

Angels vs. Athletics prediction: Take the Over

It has been a tough first year with the Angels for Jose Quintana, and he will look to get things straightened out Sunday against the Athletics.

Quintana is giving up career-highs of 6.5 walks, 10.9 hits, and 1.5 home runs per nine innings while posting a 7.92 ERA across eight starts.

The Angels will back up Quintana with a bullpen allowing a league-high 1.95 home runs per nine innings the past 30 days, and the team as a whole has the worst ERA in the league.

The Athletics have lost each of Cole Irvin’s past four starts, three of which have been in Oakland, and he gave up at least three runs in each of the home starts in that span. The Athletics entered the series with an ERA of 4.55 as a team at home and 3.56 on the road with Irvin having a 4.50 home ERA and 3.09 road ERA

The Athletics have shown an ability to hit in day games, averaging 1.6 home runs and five total runs per game in their 21 day games. The Angels have a 5.70 ERA across their 13 day games, so scoring should come easy in Oakland on Sunday.

The play: Angels-Athletics total, Over.
