Overview from the Mets Spring Training Game Thursday:
Rapid explosion
Brandon Nimmo completed a 2-for-2 with a homer advancing the game for the Mets in their 8-4 exhibition victory over the nationals at Port St. Lucie. Nimmo returned to center field after starting DH on the previous day.
Running man
The Nationals were 3-for-4 in stolen attempts against James McCain and the Mets relievers. Victor Robles finished with those two steals.
caught my eye
Former Mets boss Fred Wilpon saw the first inning of the game from behind home plate. Wilpone, whose family sold the team to Steve Cohen in October, was in camp for the second time this spring.
Friday schedule
The Mets have a free day on schedule, and the complex will be closed.
