Nets James Harden, DeAndre Jordan support hurricane-backed Texas

James Harden and DeAndre Jordan both play in Brooklyn, but they have deep ties to Houston. And with a lightning disaster in Texas, the two Nets veterans are not forgetting or have forgotten where they came from.

Harden (who won the last three scoring titles while playing for the Rockets) and Jordan (who hails from Houston and went to Texas A&M) are helping with relief and humanitarian efforts in that city.

“I have phone calls every day, all day trying to influence the city because they have shown me a lot of love and respect in that time,” Harden said. “So, I called Houston home. It’s obviously disastrous. It’s probably worse than the storm because we don’t know how many people were affected, having no electricity and not having electricity.”

Harden – with the help of Body Armor – has sent drinking water. He has been in contact with burst piping companies, and has also been on the phone with Sylvester Turner, the mayor of Houston.

“I have been in contact with the Mayor, Mayor Turner. Just so many people I know that I am not there are able to help. Obviously, this is a very big problem, but I try to impress and help as much as I can. “And I will keep it going.” It will not stop because so many people have been affected that I cannot stop. “

Jordan has family in the area, although they are all now safe. But he is also aided in humanitarian efforts for his hometown.

“Anyway it’s easier for people’s lives to be a little easier that James and I can help that we’re working behind the scenes as much as possible. Jordan said that a lot of people are getting resources no matter where we are.” Whether or not, just being able to help a human being over a period of time is something that is important to both of us.

“I think everyone was affected regardless of your situation overall in Texas. My family was definitely very lucky in this time but as I said they had some times where it was a bit difficult but this Time is all getting better there. “

Jeff Green was diagnosed with right shoulder fusion. He will be evaluated on Monday as the Nets will return to Brooklyn.

Nick Claxton, who has ruled out with tendinopathy of the right knee, was available for the first time this season, but did not play.

Timothee Luvavu-Cabrot left the game with a right hip. Jeff Green was ruled out in the final minutes after being fouled by Patrick Beverley.
