Greta Thunberg “Rickrolled” a climate concert in Sweden — belting out Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” in front of a screaming crowd of teenagers.
The teen climate activist also busted out some awkward dance moves as she hollered off-key into the microphone at Climate Live, a youth-led concert for action on climate change, in Stockholm on Saturday.
Footage of the 18-year-old’s pop star turn has already been viewed more than 2.3 million times on Tikok.
“We are no strangers to love,” Thunberg told the crowd, which is the opening line to the 1980s hit, before she stunned the audience by launching into song and dance.
“Rickrolling” started as an internet prank in which people were fooled into clicking on a hyperlink that leads to Astley’s music video.
Astley himself responded to Thunberg’s “Rickrolling” cover by thanking her in Swedish, tweeting: “Fantastic and Tack så mycket! Rick x.”
Thunberg was also joined on stage by fellow Swedish activist Andreas Magnusson for the shock performance.
Her song and dance was a change of pace for Thunberg, who has been known to publicly target high profile figures with fierce attitude amid her push for climate action.
She took aim at President Joe Biden and other world leaders just last month as she chastised them for their “empty” promises of eco-action — dismissing it all as “blah, blah, blah.”
“This is all we hear from our so-called leaders: Words. Words that sound great but so far have led to no action,” she told a crowd at youth climate summit in Milan, Italy.
“This is not about some expensive, politically correct green act of bunny hugging, or blah, blah, blah. Build Back Better, blah, blah, blah,” she said of Biden’s $3.5 trillion post-COVID plan.
“Green economy, blah, blah, blah. Net-zero by 2050, blah, blah, blah. Climate-neutral, blah, blah, blah.”
