Ring the alarm — new Beyoncé music is here!
The singer is sure to have yet another hit on her hands with her song “Be Alive,” which is featured in the new trailer for the biopic about Venus and Serena Williams’ father, called “King Richard.”
The sports drama stars Will Smith as Richard Williams, father of the tennis-pros-in-waiting, as he trains his girls to be the best on and off the court.
The three-minute clip shows Smith, 53, in full costume and scored by Beyoncé singing her heart out.
“It feels so good to be alive / That’s why I live my life with pride,” Beyoncé, 40, belts. “Do you know how much we have pride? / How hard we have to try?”
The soulful ballad is weaved into clips from the movie showing Richard training young Venus and Serena, played by Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton, respectively.
Serena, 40, teased the flick and the Grammy winner’s track on social media on Thursday. “I’m SO excited for you to watch the new trailer for #KingRichard, starring Will Smith and featuring the song “Be Alive” by Beyoncé ?Seeing this film (based on Venus’ and my true story) come to life has been one of the coolest experiences.”
The post showed Venus, 41, Smith and her sister having a blast on the set of the movie as they took selfies and waved to the camera.
The teaser for the film also shows a scene where the WIlliamses come home in Compton, California, following tennis practice in the pouring rain. When they arrive, a white social worker is there to check in on the kids. An upset Richard tells the worker, “I don’t even mind you saying we hard on these kids. You know why? ‘Cause we are. That’s our job. To keep ’em off these streets.”
In another scene, the girls show off their rockin’ tennis skills on the court in front of top coach Paul Cohen (played by Tony Goldwyn).
“I think you might just have the next Michael Jordan,” boasts tennis coach Rick Macci (Jon Bernthal) in the clip.
The movie’s official synopsis calls Richard “an undeterred father [with a] relentless drive and unapologetic vision to change the game” who is “instrumental in raising two of the most extraordinarily gifted athletes of all time, who will end up changing the sport of tennis forever.”
The movie will hit theaters and HBO Max on Nov. 19.
