A Staten Island man was punched to the ground and fatally shot early Friday, authorities said.
Anthony Morales, 28, was outside a building on Warren Street near Hill Street, part of NYCHA’s Stapleton Houses in Clifton, around 1:15 a.m. when a man approached and punched him, knocking him down, cops said.
While Morales was on the ground, the gunman shot him in the torso and right shoulder, police said.
The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect took off and remains at large.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unclear.
