A Frontier Airlines pilot was arrested for hiding a spy camera in the bedroom window of a Florida college student, university police said.
Vernon Dwayne Crider, 55, was charged by University of Central Florida cops after the hidden cam was spotted by the 19-year-old in her window screen at The Pointe at Central apartment complex on Sept. 20, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by The Post.
“The lens of the camera was facing her bedroom,” the report reads. “The victim believed an individual placed the spy camera outside her bedroom window in order to surreptitiously record her inside her bedroom, where she had a reasonable expectation of privacy.”
Police said the recovered “mini hidden spy pen camera” had a SIM card with photos of what appeared to be an airplane cockpit as well as a hotel room. A deleted image that was recovered from the card also showed a legal settlement with Crider’s signature, police said.
A subsequent search of a Federal Aviation Administration database revealed Crider to be a licensed airline pilot currently working for Frontier Airlines, according to the affidavit.
UCF police said Crider cut a 1-inch hole into the victim’s window screen to hide the spy camera, which recorded for more than two hours before it was discovered. It doesn’t appear that Crider and the victim knew each other.
Crider has an expired Florida driver’s license out of Pensacola and a valid license in Missouri, police said.
Reps for Frontier Airlines verified to UCF cops that Crider had flown into Orlando International Airport three days before the disturbing find. A photo provided by the airline also matched a picture of Crider found on the SIM card, police said.
Frontier also confirmed Crider was also off work and didn’t fly on Sept. 19 or 20 — when the spy camera was discovered, police said.
A spokeswoman for UCF police told The Post that Crider was arrested on Oct. 5 in Missouri on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and attempted video voyeurism. He was transported to the Orange County Jail last week before bonding out on Oct. 14. Police believe he has since returned to Missouri, UCF police spokeswoman Courtney Gilmartin told The Post on Friday.
A rep for Frontier, meanwhile, declined to provide additional details on Crider when reached for comment, referring inquiries to local law enforcement officials.
The victim’s mother told WKMG that she moved into the university-affiliated housing complex less than a mile from UCF’s campus in Orlando with a friend four weeks earlier.
“She was crying and she told me very frantically that she was in her bedroom and she saw a blinking green light outside her window,” the UCF student’s mother told WKMG.
The UCF student ran outside to investigate and found a camera “about the size of a cigarette lighter,” her mother said. “The only reason she found it is because it was raining that night and the camera happened to reboot.”
The student’s mom said her daughter has yet to return to the apartment since the frightening incident but is still on the hook to pay rent because the apartment complex won’t approve an early lease termination.
The worried mom also told WKMG she had many unanswered questions.
“How many other towns does he fly into?” the woman asked. “And how many other apartments does he go by? How many girls does he potentially follow? How long has this gone on?”
An attorney for Crider declined to comment because he’s awaiting the full case from prosecutors, WKMG reported.
Attempts on Friday to reach Crider, whose last known address was in Imperial, Missouri, were unsuccessful. A message left for a woman in public records believed to be his wife was not immediately returned.
