Yankees’ Zac Briton ‘excited’ with elbow surgery behind him

TAMPA – Zack Britton underwent arthroscopic surgery on Monday to remove a bony bone in his left elbow.

The 33-year-old Briton is expected to be out until June, a blow to the Yankees’ bullpen, but he should be able to contribute during the second half of the season.

The injury was revealed when on March 7. Bretton developed a sore elbow after the bullpen session. He was slowly building up after the January Coved-19 diagnosis, causing him a loss of 18 pounds.

“I came in [to camp] Breton said last week, COVID has lost a lot of weight in offseason. “So to add that, it is a very frustrating week. But I am going to take care of it and I am going to pitch this year and help the team. This is the most important thing.”

The Yankees intended to make up for the Briton’s loss using matchups, with the possibility of Aroldis Chapman closing in and Penn’s back made by Chad Green, Darren O’Day and Justin Wilson.
