Port ST. LUCIE – David Peterson’s production for the regular season is nearing completion.
And after Carlos Carrasco’s right hamstring tear that would put him on the injured list, Peterson could count that start in the Mets’ rotation until the upcoming season.
Peterson threw 74 pitches in a mock game on Saturday, a day after manager Luis Rojas said there was a possibility of a rotation of the left-hander. Peterson started the spring competition with Joey Lucchesi and Jordan Yamamoto.
“My goal is for everyone to come together and show the coaching staff and the organization and the people in that locker room that I’m ready to contribute again at the big league level, and the goal for me is to be in the rotation,” said Peterson at Clover Park.
