Facebook spent $ 23.4M on security for Mark Zuckerberg in 2020

Facebook invested approximately $ 23.4 million in 2020 to save its founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

According to a proxy statement filed by Facebook last Friday, Zuckerberg included a whopping $ 13.4 million for personal protection, along with an additional annual $ 10 million pre-tax allowance to protect his family.

Zuckerberg’s company-established security program includes security for billionaires while traveling and at home.

It also covers the cost of setting up and maintaining security measures at their residences.

“We believe the scope and cost of these security programs are reasonable and necessary,” the company said in a proxy statement.

“We believe that Mr. Zuckerberg’s role puts him in a unique position: he is synonymous with Facebook and, as a result, negative feelings about our company are directly linked to, and often transferred to, Mr. Zuckerberg.” The statement continued.

In total, in 2020, Facebook spent $ 25.3 million on Zuckerbeg. His base salary was just $ 1.
