Monty Python legend John Classey publicly trolled Hank Azaria for regret while giving his tongue-in-cheek “apology” to Apu – the character of “The Simpsons”.
“I would like to apologize on behalf of Monty Python for all the sketches we made fun of white English people, for not being left behind by Hank Azaria,” Classey Tweeted earlier this week. “We are sorry for any crisis we may have caused.”
The 81-year-old comedy king’s post came on the same day Azaria apologized for his conservative portrayal of Apu Nahaspampepetilone – the fictional Indian American boss of Springfield’s Quick-A-Mart.
Azaria said in a new interview, “I think I need to go to every Indian person in this country and apologize in person.” “And sometimes I do.”
Cleese, with 5.7 million Twitter followers, is known for her sharp tweets against “woke-ism”.
