Trevor Lawrence does not need football in his life to recover, but that does not mean that he is not motivated to play the game as well as he can make his way to the NFL.
The former Clemson quarterback and presumed No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on Saturday clarified the citations on Wednesday. Sports Illustrated The article in which he claimed that he “does not have this big chip on my shoulder.” This led some to question his motivation to play in the league, though he said his initial comments were “wrong.”
“It seems like people are mistaking my sentiment. I am intrinsically inspired – I love football or more than anyone, ”Lawrence Tweeted. “It’s a big priority in my life, obviously. I am motivated to be the best I can be and maximize my potential. And to win.
“I have great faith in my work ethic, I love pursuing and grinding my goals. You can ask anyone what is in my life. That being said, I am safe in who I am and who I am.” I agree. I don’t need football to make me feel worthy as a person. I absolutely love the game and everything that comes with it. Work, team, ups and downs. I like this fact I firmly believe that I have a plan for my life and I am said to be the best I can be in whatever I am doing. ”

Here are the comments that prompted criticism of Lawrence, who has not demonstrated any other deficiencies or flaws in the draft process, abstract or otherwise:
“It’s not like I need (football) for my life, okay,” Lawrence Told SI. “I want to do it because I want to be the best that I can be. I want to maximize my potential. Who wouldn’t want to do that? If you don’t do it then you’ll ruin it.”
“It’s hard to explain that because I want people to know that I’m passionate about what I do and it’s really important to me, but … I don’t have this huge chip on my shoulder, which Everyone has to get me and me. Trying to prove everyone wrong. I just don’t have that much. I can’t build that. I don’t want to. “
The lack of motivation towards the game of football – in fact, the investment of interest in anything outside of the game – has long been a cause of concern among NFL scouts, GMs, and coaches. But the NFL is ultimately a business, and it appears that Lawrence is coming this way. And no, this does not mean that he is not motivated to be the best player he can be.
