Andrew Yang tops Democratic candidates for NYC mayor: Poll

Andrew Yang is a major contender in a crowded field of candidates in the Democratic primary race for mayor, according to a new poll.

Yang was the top pick to lead the Big Apple to 32 percent of the 644 potential Democratic voters who responded to a WPIX-TV / NewsNation / Emerson College poll released on Monday.

Behind Yang, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams was the second top candidate by poll, with 19 percent of potential voters.

The poll stated that City Comptroller Scott Stringer polled just 6 percent, while former federal prosecutor and Mayor de Blasio’s lawyer Maya Wiley received 9 percent support.

Yang leads all candidates among white and Asian voters. He is also one of the voters in the age group of 18 to 29.

According to the poll, Adams is the top choice among black and hijpik voters.

The poll, which was held from March 4 to 6, found that Cuomo had higher approval ratings among city voters than de Blasio.

Cuomo gave the mayor’s 26 percent a 55 percent approval rating.
