The title of your album is “Better Mistakes”. So what is the best mistake you ever made?
It was not a mistake that I made – it was a mistake made by another artist. My manager called me and said Florida Georgia Line Was in the studio and that this other artist had canceled them and they wanted to write [with me] … so I went to the studio, and we started writing “Meet to Be”.
You collaborate with Rick Ross on his new song “Amore”, which is hip-hop on “That’s Amore”. Origin is way ahead of your time, so where did this idea come from?
This is my father’s favorite song. He used to play it all when I was growing up, and he used to sing “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie …” and I was like, “How can we flip ‘Amore’ , Like, a good way and make it more fresh and fresh? ”And so we did it.
And then your album ends with “Mom” on a very personal note. How did your relationship with your own mother affect that song?

I heard a bit of “Bohemian Rapsody” in “Mama” and is credited to Freddie Mercury as co-writer on the song.

Is there a song you wish you had written while listening to it?

This is mental health awareness month, and you are really open about being bipolar. Why is this so important to you?
I think when I was younger and going through anxiety and depression and feeling really lonely, I would love to hear about my favorite celebrities or artists or someone I am talking about. Growing up in New York, how did the city shape you as an artist?
For me, it was just an energy and cultural melting pot. One of my next-door neighbors was Puerto Rican; One of them was Italian. I was constantly listening and being introduced to new music from all these different countries and all these different cultures. And [because of] The fact that hip-hop was huge in New York, too, I grew up on a lot of hip-hop… New York City really shaped me to be the person I am today. I am not a bull-tee person.
