Brittany Matthews made it rain with bubbly on Sunday night.
During the Chiefs’ thrilling AFC Divisional Round win against the Bills, Matthews, the fiancée of Kansas City’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes, sprayed a bottle of champagne from her suite at Arrowhead Stadium into the crowd in the stands.
“Chiefs Kingdom, YALL ROCK #nextround,” Matthews captioned the video on Instagram.
With 13 seconds remaining in regulation, Bills quarterback Josh Allen connected with receiver Gabriel Davis for a touchdown, giving Buffalo a 36-33 lead. Mahomes then somehow fired off two passes to move the Chiefs into field goal range to tie the game.
The Chiefs got the ball first in overtime after winning the coin toss, with Mahomes hitting tight end Travis Kelce for a walk-off touchdown. Allen and the Bills never saw the field again. Per the league’s much-maligned overtime rules, if the team that gets the ball first scores a touchdown, the game is over.
“To be in this moment against that team and to make a play to walk off at Arrowhead … I’ll remember that the rest of my life, I’ll remember it forever,” Mahomes said postgame.
The Chiefs will play in their fourth-straight AFC Championship game next Sunday against the Bengals, who stunned the No. 1 seeded Titans on Saturday.
“NEVER DOUBT US,” Matthews tweeted.
Should Kansas City punch their ticket to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row, Matthews and company may need a bit more champagne.
