Broncos offensive lineman Graham Glasgow experienced a heart scare during Denver’s 27-13 win against the Giants in Sunday’s season-opener.
Glasgow did not travel back to Denver with the team, and instead departed MetLife Stadium in an ambulance because he “had an irregular heartbeat going,” Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said Monday.
The 29-year-old guard was hospitalized overnight in New York but the plan is for him to fly back on Tuesday.
“Everything is so far, so good,” Fangio told reporters.
Fangio said Glasgow told him the issue began bothering him on the second or third series but he tried to play through it. Fangio also said that Glasgow did not have any prior known heart issues.
On Monday, Glasgow tweeted that he is looking forward to a “quick recovery.”
“Hey everyone, I appreciate all the well wishes. Looking forward to a quick recovery and getting back out there. It was a great team win [Sunday], and excited to see where myself and the team go from here,” he wrote.
The former Lions star is expected to return to Denver on Tuesday.
Glasgow started in Denver’s win over the Giants on Sunday, and played most of the team’s offensive snaps (63-of-66). Netane Muti played the remaining three snaps.
Last March, Glasgow signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the Broncos.
The Michigan product was drafted by Detroit in the third round (95th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Broncos host the Jaguars this Sunday.
