Controversy over face mask kills Tulane officer

A man arrested for allegedly killing a police officer at the University of Tulan fired a deadly shoot after an argument over wearing a mask at a high school basketball game.

John Schallerhorn was reprimanded outside George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans on Friday night for shooting Tullen police officer Martinus Mitchum, where the officer was moonlighting as a security guard.

The officer tried to use shalerhorn outside the school when the suspect had a quarrel with the employee at the school WVUE reported Citing the police on Sunday.

Schlehorn allegedly shot Mitchum twice.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and later charged with the murder and robbery of a policeman.

The report said that prior to entering the school, Schleurhorn allegedly robbed a man of his chain in the parking lot.

“We are deeply saddened by the condescending and tragic death of TUPD Corporal Martinus Mitchum,” Tulane’s Police Chief Kirk Byles said in a statement by WVUE.

“Corporal Mitchum was a dedicated police professional who had a heart for service to the Tulane community,” said Boyles.
