Death toll increases as Israeli-Hamas conflict continues

The animosity between Israel and Hamas escalated on Tuesday night as several Hamas intelligence leaders died amid the most intense air exchange in years.

Israel carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Gaza, while Islamist groups and other Palestinian militant groups targeted Tel Aviv and Beersheba with rocket barrages.

Five Israelis, including three women and a child, were killed by rocket fire in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 35 Palestinians, including 10 children, died in Gaza.

According to Israel, several Hamas intelligence leaders were among the dead. Hamas offices and rocket launch sites were also targeted.

In Israel, people ran for shelter or fell to the ground amid the sound of explosions as interceptor missiles hit the sky.

A late-night barrage of rockets in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area caused aerial bombing sirens and explosions.

Israeli newspaper Haret reported that Netanyahu declared a state of emergency and prevented “chaos” on the streets injuring 12 people.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas from Tuesday to Wednesday was the worst since the 2014 war in Gaza.
