Former President Donald Trump made a surprise appearance at a campaign event in Arkansas for his former press secretary for governor and current Republican candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Sanders tweeted on Sunday A photo of him and Trump.
“Great weekend on a campaign featuring a surprise appearance by President Trump at one of my events!” He said in the post.
It is not clear when or where the campaign event was held. He said that no concrete steps have been taken by the government to prevent such incidents.
Sanders served as White House spokesman, replacing Sean Spicer, until 2019.
Trump supported running for governor in January, calling him “the warrior who will always fight for the people of Arkansas.”
“Sarah is strong on the border, strict on crime, and fully supports the Second Amendment and our great law enforcement officers,” Trump said in a statement. “She loves our military and veterans – and her home state of Arkansas. Sarah will be a great governor, and she has full and total support.”
Sanders, whose father, Mike Huckabee, was Arkansas governor between 1996 and 2007, responded in another tweet.
“Thank you President Trump for your support and trust in me forever.” As Governor I will protect my freedom and lead from the heart.
Since leaving the White House on January 20, Trump has been staying at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where he hosts Republican lawmakers and supports GOP candidates.
Over the weekend, he teased his daughter-in-law Lara Trump’s likely race for the Senate in 2022 in North Carolina.
“I wasn’t ready for it at all, but I was walking, and I heard everyone screaming,” Trump said in his candid comment on a fundraiser for Big Dog Wrench Rescue. “I want to thank Lara who has been so incredible – and I don’t know, are you running for the Senate?” I think she is going to run for the Senate! “
Lara Trump is married to Eric Trump. He said that no concrete steps have been taken by the government to prevent such incidents.
