Drunk driver murdered California man after AA meeting

A California man was allegedly badly hit by a drunk driver – after leaving the alcoholics’ benami meeting, local reports said Wednesday.

Ray Galindo, a proud member of the program for the past 15 years, was murdered in Modesta on April 23, when 22-year-old Braxton Hovs allegedly ran to him, Reported KOVR.

Galindo, 58, was speaking to an AA newcomer outside the Living Sobar Fellowship and sitting on the tailgate of his steep pickup.

When police say Hovez, who was allegedly wrecked, swam across the street and killed her.

One of the leaders of Galindo’s AA group, named as Mark G, said, “It sank into my chest like my heart.”

“Ray was a standup guy, he was a very helpful person, he always wanted to lend a hand.”

He leaves three sons, two who are adults and one 9-year-old, according to Modesto Bee.

“He was such a good father,” the child’s mother, Dee Leslie, told the newspaper about Galindo.

“He (his son) wanted him to have a good education and all the goods.”

Howes, who was allegedly driving a license suspended from a previous DUI, has been charged with a number of charges including hit and run, DUI and gross vehicle accident.

He appeared retarded, bloody and was injured in a mugshot released by the Modesto Police Department.

Howes was held on $ 1,000,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on 11 May.
