Hundreds attended a funeral on Thursday at the funeral of a 21-year-old Israeli soldier who was just a month away from completing his military service when he was killed by a missile fired from the Gaza Strip.
Omar Tabib, a member of the 931st Battalion of Staff Sergeant Nahal Infantry Brigade, died on Wednesday when an anti-tank missile hit his jeep, injuring two other soldiers.
“He was full of love and peace,” Tabib’s mother, Tali, said at the cemetery in Moshaw Ikaka, Jerusalem Post reported.
“He loved and loved people. He was full of joy and respected all around him, always ready to lend when needed.
The grieving mother directly addressed the late soldier, whose coffin fellow soldiers were wearing the brigade’s iconic light green berry.
“My son, you were caring and sensitive, always knowing what was the right thing to do,” Tali said.
“I refuse to believe that instead of blessing you [finishing the army], I am searching for words to summarize the duration of your life. … In my darkest dreams I never thought that I would reach this point. Omar, my beautiful child, give us the strength to know how to move forward, “he said, According to Haiderz.
He said: “I love you so much, forever, my son.”
Family friend Gamil Ratzone said, “These people of Gaza, as well as those from inside our country, want to destroy us.” They were successful this time, but they would not last long.
In addition to his parents, Tali and Aamir, Tabib is survived by a brother in ninth grade, Hertz reported.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences to the family on Wednesday.
“In the name of all the citizens of Israel, I would like to express my deepest grief and my condolences to the family and friends of Tabib,” he said in a statement.
