Olympic gold medalist and reality TV star Katilyn Jenner says she is in the running to replace Gavin Newsome as Governor of California because “we have to change things.”
“I love this country … I love this state,” Jenner said on Fox News, “Hannity.”
“This state has done a lot for me over the years, and I have seen it erupt before my eyes, and you stand up.”
Jenner is one of eight Republicans trying to oust Gavin Newsome in just the second Gubernatorial recall election in California history.
First recalled in 2003, Democrat Gray Davis was removed and replaced by another Hollywood Republican, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The 1976 Olympic decathlon champion, who was born in Mount Kisco and graduated from high school in Connecticut, recalled going to Golden State after graduating from college in 1973.
“I went to San Jose,” he said. “Why? Because San Jose is where all the great athletes lived. I met him at my first Olympics in 1972. And as a decathlet, I wanted to learn from all these other great athletes … I do the same thing now.” Want to do

Jenner also called Newsom’s “hypocrisy” during the coronovirus epidemic.
“You’ve seen her video in French Laundry,” she said. “I can’t go to my restaurant, and not all the employees of that restaurant are working, okay?” And he is eating there.
“We see Nancy Pelosi – I can’t go to my hair salon. All the salons in my city are closed. Anyone can go there and nobody can work. People are losing money. But she can sneak in, and what is going on is hypocrisy. “
Jenner said that in his eyes, Newsom has been bad on every issue. He is bad at taxes, obviously. We are the highest tax state in the nation. He is obviously terrible for business. Companies are leaving left and right – 18,000 companies have left California.
“My friends are leaving California,” she went on. “Actually … across the man, he was packing his hangar. I said, ‘Where are you going?’ And he says, “I’m going to Sedona, Arizona. I can’t take it here. I can’t walk on the streets and see the homeless.”
“I don’t want to leave, okay?” Jenner finished. “Either I stay and fight, or I get out of here.”
