Justin Wilson exits Yankees game concerning injury

TAMPA – The Yankees suffered another injury with another high-leveraged, leftie reliever.

Justin Wilson ruled out Monday’s game with a tightness in his left shoulder, the team said, and is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam Tuesday morning to determine the diagnosis and the severity of the injury.

“The way he described it, [he] George m. After losing 4–0 to the Phillies at Steinbrenner Field, manager Aaron Boone said that a difficult time was still going on. “We’ll see what we have in the morning.” … I think this is a chance that it may not be a big deal. “

Wilson had thrown the 20th pitch of his seventh inning only when he signaled for trainers Steve Donohue and Boone for a dugout. He appeared to press his left hand into a fist. After a brief chat on the mound, Wilson left the game.

The 33-year-old leftie, who signed with the Yankees in February, was sitting at 91–92 mph on his fastball Monday after registering his previous appearance Friday at 93–95 mph. Wilson was pitching in his fourth game of the spring and gave Didi Gregorius a two-run home run to bat first.

Earlier in the camp, the Yankees lost their best left-handed reliever, Zac Britton, who recently had surgery to remove a bone chip in his elbow. Britton is expected to be out until June.

Apart from Erodis Chapman, the Yankees have no other healthy leftie reliever on their 40-man roster.

Jameson Tillon’s scorched spring is over, but his healthy return is on track. The Yankees right-hander made up to 60 pitches, 28 of which came in a third inning, he did not get out.

Coming back from second Tommy John surgery in 2019, Tillon gave up one run on five hits (including four singles in the third inning), but one batsman could not walk and scored five runs in 2 ² / ings innings.

“There was definitely a long innings and I wasn’t long of an innings in a while,” Tillon said. “More than anything, I’m healthy. It feels great to be back there. … I think my stuff is coming together well. “

Aaron the judge came within a few feet of his first home run of the spring, but his fly ball to the right field fell into a glove on the warning track.

Still, the judges are not lacking their power (8-for-34, two doubles, no home runs) in the grapple league play.

“There is going to be power,” the judge said before the game. “It’s one of my strengths, so I like to work on other things that aren’t really my strengths and build on them. Just trying to be the best overall, well-rounded baseball player. So the power. Is not really my concern. “

Gary Sanchez handled the news that he would catch Gerrit Cole on Opening Day for business as usual.

“Whatever happened last year, you will leave it in the past,” said Sanchez. “I’m a catcher and it’s my responsibility.”

Miguel Andujar (a hamstring strain / neurological problem) is still not throwing or hitting and Boone said he did not expect to see him in a game “anytime soon”.
