Nets sign swingman DeAndre’ Bembry for one-year deal

Brooklyn’s brief flirtation with Andre Iguodala is over after less than a day. As soon as the aging veteran opted for a return to Golden State, the Nets quickly pivoted to sign swingman DeAndre’ Bembry.

The 6-foot-5, 210 pound Bembry inked a one-year deal that was first reported by ESPN and confirmed by The Post.

Bembry, 27, signed a two-year contract with the Raptors worth $4 million before last season, but was waived by Toronto on Aug. 6 and signed by Brooklyn just days later as an unrestricted free agent.

The nephew of Gary Springer and the cousin of the 76ers’ Jaden Springer, Bembry starred at St. Patrick’s High School in Elizabeth, NJ — the same school that produced Nets star Kyrie Irving. In the past, Bembry has worn No. 95 to honor his brother Adrian, who was born in 1995 but shot and killed trying to break up a fight.

Brooklyn had been in the running to sign the 37-year-old Iguodala, who had initially been considering the Nets, Warriors and Lakers. After scratching the Lakers off his list, he eventually opted for a return to Golden State, where he won three NBA championships – including 2017 and 2018 alongside current Nets star Kevin Durant.

Iguodala’s decision to rejoin the Warriors was first reported by The New York Times. The 2015 Finals MVP was waived by the Miami Heat earlier this week, and after the same trio of contenders vied for Aussie guard Patty Mills – a duel the Nets ended up winning – Iguodala settled for a minimum deal.
