Newly released photos show Prince Philip as a young sailor

Never before have photographs of the Duke of Edinburgh been released during his school days as a teenage sailor.

Photos surfaced before Philippe’s funeral at Buckingham Palace on Saturday. He died on 9 April at the age of 99.

The teenage duke was also shown smiling on camera and washing utensils on the boat.

Photos surfaced after the nephew of the former student, who approached the school after Duke passed away.

Gordonstown School

Hardworking Gordonstown had its first offshore ship and, according to the school, was purchased in June 1936 by a member of staff, who was also a ferryman.

The school was founded two years ago by Kurt Hahn, who worked as Duke’s headmaster and Philip’s mentor.

The school’s young sailors planned the school’s 80-foot boat training boat, aboard the Ocean Spirit of More and laying a wreath along the banks of Hopman Harbor.
