The 49ers are finally out of their misery.
One of the NFL draft’s biggest mysteries has been solved since San Francisco selected Trey Lance with the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
After more than a month of speculation from the No. 49 trade to No. 12 to No. 3, following an apparent Kyle Shanhan press conference and trade rumors surrounding Jimmy Garpolo, the team finally took their future pass.

Some reporters speculated that Alabama quarterback Mack Jones was going to be selected at No. 3, but we now know that was not the case.
The NFL world reacted on Thursday night to Lance’s 49ers’ astonishing reaction:
According to one source, psychological testing of new SF QB Trey Lance was “off the charts” for the 49ers. The 49ers considered him the smartest quarterback in this draft class.
